Benötigt man schnell ein lauffähiges System bestehend aus einem Apache-Webserver mit MySQL, PHP, Perl und noch ein paar weiteren Tools, um etwa eigene Webservices zu entwickeln oder solche zu testen, dann ist XAMPP eine gute Hilfe. Hier wird eine einfache Komplettinstallation dieser Werkzeuge angeboten. Dieses Angebot gibt es  für Windows, Linux, MacOS und Solaris. Nur wenige Minuten nach dem Herunterladen ist eine Installation fertig.

Zunächst habe ich begonnen meine Vorlesungen mittels Camtasia Studio mitzuschneiden. Dabei wird ein sogenannter Screencast erzeugt. Beschränkt man sich auf das Audiosignal, so erhält man eine MP3-Audiodatei, die als Podcast vertrieben werden kann.

Yesterday I installed my first Drupal 5.x site from scratch. It was really easy. Coming from a 4.7 site the makeover of the installation procedure was impressive. The database tables were created automatically. There were hints given for possible security issues with file and folder permissions - great. Just after about 15 minutes it was up and running.
