If you use Twitter already this is not new for you. But finally Twitter starts to make the German news, mostly because German celebrities are joining the crowds. The common opinion is more skeptical about it, and considers its use a waste of time.
But for quite a while Twitter already has been used successfully by people interested or active in science to keep up to date, search and share information, get organized at conferences, or just to have a short conversation - to mention just a few of Twitter's uses. There was even an effort made by 2020science, to visualize the Twitter science network and to quantify the influence of the users, if there is such a thing. You can find me there - I am one of the tiny dots ;-)
